Magnesia Carbon Bricks

Magnesia Carbon Bricks Introdution:

Magnesia-Carbon brick is resin-bonded brick made from dead-burned or fused magnesia and graphite. Anti-oxidant is also added if needed. Magnesia-Carbon brick works well in thermal resistance, corrosion, resistance, and spalling resistance.

Magnesia-carbon (MgO-C) refractory is important and widely used refractory in the steelmaking. It is characterized by a reduced slag infiltration depth and a high thermal shock resistance due to its carbon (C) content. Applications of this refractory not only include wear linings in basic oxygen furnace (BOF), electric arc furnace (EAF), and steel ladle, but also functional products such as purging and taphole bricks. The success of the use of basic MgO-C refractory in the steelmaking is based on its good properties of resistance to erosion, corrosion, and thermal shock.

Magnesia Carbon Bricks Application:

These bricks show excellent resistance to thermal shock and slag corrosion at elevated temperatures and are used extensively in Steel industry.

The steelmaking requires extreme chemical, thermal and mechanical conditions that demand a high performance of materials, able to withstand the action of the molten steel bath and slag. Both Magnesia carbon and Alumina Magnesia carbon are able to offer such properties.

Magnesia Carbon Bricks Advantages:

Good high temperature resistance
Strong anti-slag penetration resistance
Resistance to thermal shock
High Corrosion resistance to slag
Non-Wettability to molten slag
Increases lifespan of the vessal.
Low thermal expansion

MgO-C bricks are used extensively in high quality steel alloy making processes especially in basic oxygen furnaces, electric arc furnaces, ladle refining furnances.

The difference between magnesia carbon brick and aluminum magnesia carbon brick

The difference between magnesia-carbon bricks and aluminum-magnesia-carbon bricks is that the raw materials used are different. Magnesia-carbon bricks are a kind of resin-bonded bricks made of fused magnesia and graphite. Magnesia carbon bricks, if necessary, you can also add antioxidants, magnesia carbon bricks perform well in heat resistance, corrosion resistance, corrosion resistance and peeling resistance.

Magnesia carbon bricks are mainly used in the lining of converters, electric arc furnaces, DC electric arc furnaces, ladle slag lines and other parts. Magnesia-alumina-carbon bricks are made of high-quality bauxite, corundum, fused magnesia and graphite. Alumina-magnesia-carbon bricks have proper residual expansion, low thermal conductivity and better insulation properties. Alumina-magnesia-carbon bricks are used for the slag line of the ladle, the lower part of the ladle wall, the bottom of the ladle and the free area of the ladle.
